Annnouncing Global Connections Eleven at The Prem Center Chaing Mai, Thailand
25th TO 30th JUNE 2008

Dear Global Connectors,

As many of you know about 60 of us, seasoned and new members, enjoyed a wonderful seminar at The Hotchkiss School in Connecticut in July. It was an inspiring occasion, full of all the warmth of friendship and the stimulation of substantial thinking about what we do as educators and how we might do it even better. Commentary on this seminar is posted on this website: http://www.globalconnections.org/evolution.html#gc10. It was uplifting to feel the spirit of Peter Pelham alive and well in our seminar deliberations, intellectual and social. The Global Connections Annual Seminar remains, for those of us privileged to know it, the most rewarding form of professional camaraderie and development.

Next year, in June 2008, we shall be hosted by Lister Hannah at the Prem Center in Chiang Mai, Thailand. Lister hosted the first part of GC2 in 1998 when he was at the Geelong Grammar School near Melbourne. Next years seminar theme is West meets East (not the other way round) as we feel that there is so much that the West needs to go to the East to seek out and learn. Established in 2000 and beautifully situated on 90 acres in the foothills of the mountains of northern Thailand, the Prem Tinsulanonda Center for International Education (the Prem Center) is just 25 kilometers north of Chiang Mai, Thailands second largest city. In a region rich in culture and history, pivotally placed in Asia as an integral part of South East Asia and positioned between the two emerging super powers of India and China, the Center is strategically located to serve Thailand, the region and the world educationally. Do have a look at its website: www.premcenter.org. The dates of our seminar will be from Wednesday 25th June (registration in the afternoon) until Monday lunch 30th June. There will be a post-seminar program starting then.

Lister Hannah will be mailing a programme outline and registration papers to all on the GC database during January. If you wish to contact him in the meanwhile, his e-mail is listerh@premcenter.org

As has been arranged in the past, there will be some financial assistance available to those Heads of School whose institutions are not able to afford the travel or seminar fees. Requests for assistance, partial or whole, should be directed to MBushey@hotchkiss.org

GC11 will be even better than earlier seminars. I do hope to see you there.

Warm regards,

Malcolm McKenzie
