GC 2007 Declaration
At each seminar, the Global Connections community comes together to record a declaration addressing the cooperation between schools. The following is the declaration finalized at the 2007 seminar:

THE DECLARATION

Whereas the Core Values of Global Connections reflect our commitment to developing global consciousness and promoting international cooperation between schools; and Whereas schools have a responsibility to be both local and global in their perspectives;

We, the schools participating in this the 10th Global Connections Seminar, hereby declare

That we will THINK AND ACT GLOBALLY AND LOCALLY with the aim of empowering our schools to have a positive influence both at home and abroad and further to act with respect as to existing cultures and models;

That we welcome cultural diversity in our schools through physical exchange of students and teachers and the attending of international conferences;

That while welcoming cultural diversity, we recognize that schools are rooted in their own cultures and identities;

That we will work to use technology as a means to facilitate the communication and collaboration between schools;

That we will recognize the importance of creating international opportunities not just for our students, but also for the professional development of our faculty;

That we recognize that we can all learn from each other and contribute to each other’s well being;

That we will work to increase the participation of new schools and organizations;

That we will strive to create meaningful, cooperative programs with schools participating with Global Connections;

That we recognize the CORE VALUES of Global Connections as a valuable template for cooperation between schools;

And further, we affirm our commitment to these core values to

  • Explore and celebrate difference
  • Develop and promote global consciousness
  • Build cross-cultural partnerships
  • Learn to serve and share in order to build community
  • Learn to lead collaboratively in order to transform schools
  • Promote and practice the ethics of sustainable living
