New Life for the Foundation!
As you know, the Global Connections Foundation that we all loved closed on March 31, this year. It has, however, been quickly reborn. The letter reprinted below outlines the closing of the Foundation as it currently exists and its rebirth under the leadership of Skip Mattoon, head of Hotchkiss School, which is located in Connecticut. ----------------------- April 1, 2006 Dear Global Connectors; As you know, the Global Connections Foundation that we all loved closed on March 31, this year. It has, however, been quickly reborn. I write with joy to tell you that the Hotchkiss School, in Connecticut, has agreed to take on the role of developing the Global Connections programs through their next phase. Many of you know Skip and Lyn Mattoon, both stalwart and seasoned Global Connections participants. Skip is Head of School and Lyn has been for long a leader in the Department of English at Hotchkiss. Hotchkiss has taken over the web site as well as developing the seminar and all program-related matters. It is our hope that GCX will be held, at a place yet to be determined, in the northern hemisphere summer of 2007. What comes after that will be determined by Hotchkiss in consultation with members of the GC community. Your input as they get this going will be greatly appreciated. This is all excellent news. The determination to keep our organization alive and vigorous has been driven most notably by Claudia Gallant and Isobel Pelham, each of whom will now take on other duties and professional directions.
